Information & activities

Le Perche with it’s beautiful countryside, old towns and a wealth of 16th and 17th century manors offers a wide variety of activities ; cultural, artistic, naturalist, tourist, educational, sports and more…
We have plenty of information available here on the region and current events with maps and brochures for: hiking trails, gardens, markets, local food and drink producers, exhibitions, artists, riding, fishing, mushroom gathering (1100 different types of mushrooms!) guidebooks and handbooks on the natural environment, wildlife and flowers, the garden...

WalkingGreen lane in le perche
Le Perche is renowned for its walking trails and paths. You can discover many old pathways which are called “chemins creux”, literally, hollow lanes or green lanes. We are on a "petite randonnée" route (PR) (short hike) and the “chemin creux” is just next to the entrance to our house. We can provide you with local itineraries and many more in the region which have been lovingly restored and charted creating interesting circuits with different themes. You can also join organised walks throughout the year.

Flora & fauna
There are 1200 inventoried types of flora in the Perche, 140 of which are protected. More than 2000 years ago the whole region was a primitive forest Sylva Pertica.
Today 21% of the territory is covered in forests with remarkably tall trees. Le Perche is a reference to the trunk of the tall straight trees which flourish on the clay and flint-rich soil on the tops of the hills. Oak and beech are among the most common in the big forests and we have these and many chestnut and hornbeam at La Renardière.
Wild boar, deer and more can easily be spotted from the tree house.

Bird watching
Le Perche is made up of a rich and varied mosaic of ecosystems. More than 200 types of bird have been sited and there are organised outings throughout the year with trained specialists at the Natural regional park or in the protected natural sites around the Perche. From inside or outside the tree house you already have a fantastic viewing platform and we supply reference books and binoculars. The link above gives you the list of birds sited in the Perche.

The natural garden
You are also welcome to discover the entire site of La Renardière, which is an on-going nature project without which, the tree house would not exist…
